Customer Review: Hacksaw required.
This castle is pretty flimsy overall. Even once assembled, the buildings aren’t attached by more than a wood slot, the fences are slotted on one side and held in place by a teeny magnet on the other. In theory, this would be good if you were going to transport it — but you’re not. The base is a 2×2 solid piece of wood. It ain’t going anywhere. My 5 year old daughter keeps complaining that my 2 year old son is disassembling it — I’ve had to put it back together 3 times since Christmas.
Mine came with directions on putting it together. One of the slots was too small — I had to literally hacksaw part of the castle (a small part no one would see) to make it fit. Cosmetically, it’s fine. I have never had to take a hacksaw to a gift Christmas morning to put it together and it’s my guess most parents aren’t going to want to do that. As no one else has mentioned this, I assume this piece was either misfabricated or the other reviewers have a loosely hanging stable.
Given better delivery circumstances, I would have gone with the Melissa and Doug version as I know and trust their products.
Oh, one other thing. It doesn’t come with any of the little figurines in the pictures. Bring your own princesses.
Despite my issues with this product, my daughter likes it. It’s pink. It’s a castle. Her princesses are happy. All is well in the land of make-believe. I’ve put the hacksaw back in the garage for now.
Customer Review: Lots pf play value, lovely castle, assemply is a pain
This castle is kind of a pain to assemble, especially when you compare it to IKEA furniture and toys that have such well thought out parts and straightforward instructions. It took me about an hour to put it together and the kids have been playing with it all afternoon. I have two daughters ages 4 and 3 and they are loving it. Their imaginations are running wild.
