The flexi-curve track adapter is wonderful at filling in “holes” and places that are not exactly straight or not within the parameters of a long curve or short curve piece of track. It is a must for those of us (ahem, I mean those kids) who build the “non-standard” track layouts. It’s always fun (again, for the kids) to build a different layout each time and try and use every piece of track. These adapters are indespensible for this purpose.
There is one caveat. Battery operated trains have a difficult (if not impossible) time remaining on the this type of specialty track if it is “swung around” at too much of an angle. The outside edge separates (which, of course gives the track it’s flexibility to conform) and the battery operated trains keep mowin’ straight ahead. It’s not that big of a deal ‘cos my 3 yr. old son is always creating some sort of disaster somewhere of the Sodor line – might as well be at the flexi-curve.
All in all, these are very fun and well worth the purchase.

When building elaborate track sets, these pivoting accessory pieces are great to have to help things line up right. For more flexibility, get a set of the “Wacky Track” and some male-male, and female-female track adapters as well. That will help insure it will all go together for your favorite Thomas fan.
