The first day it was taken out of the package the wooden piece that the balls are bopped through cracked and the whole thing fell apart. It must have had a defect in the wood that made it weak and it could not withstand the bopping from an 18 month old! We thought this would be a very sturdy toy that would give him a lot of fun "bopping". I would not recommend it.

My daughter received this toy at 9 months old and started using the toy to put the balls in and out of the box. Now she is 1 year old and she has mastered putting the balls in and out of the box in multiple ways. She has great eye/hand coordination because of this toy and her fingers can pull the balls out of the holes. She still does not have the hammer portion of the toy because she does not need it. She also has used this toy to hand us the balls frequently, and then she learned how to roll the balls to us on the floor. She doesn’t throw the balls but if she did start throwing them it would be an issue because they are really nice dense wood balls. She LOVES this toy and plays with it all the time. I highly recommend this toy and I recommend it for a younger child like 9 months to learn eye-hand coordination. Lastly, this toy is really nicely made, it is sturdy and colorful.
