Star Wars Galactic Hero TIE Pilot & Wedge

51ZHOyDiBmL Star Wars Galactic Hero TIE Pilot & Wedge Star Wars Galactic Hero TIE Pilot & Wedge The Galactic Heroes, a more child-based strain of the Star Wars line, are about two inches tall and look to have a little articulation to them. Wedge, Luke s old buddy, who seemed to fare pretty well and ultimately joined Rogue Squadron, is poised in his familiar white and orange flight gear, complete with removable crash helmet and handheld blaster. He s at odds with his pistol-carrying unnamed TIE Fighter counterpart. TIE Fighter Pilot is clad in his ominous polished black flight gear, which includes an elaborate helmet—with mask and oxygen tubes since the TIE Fighters do not include support-sustained cabins. Seemingly this is playing on the dogfight between Wedge and the TIE Fighter Pilot that wanted to earn his stripes by incinerating a low-flying Skywalker prior to that one miracle shot and the complete destruction of the Death Star.
Customer Review: Great figures!
The TIE Pilot and Wedge figures are a great set. Wedge’s helmet *can* be removed (so please keep this in mind if you are giving this to a youngster who tends to stick things in their mouth). There have been several X-wing vehicles released for the Galactic Heroes line, so if you can find one of them, Wedge would be a great Wingman for Luke Skywalker (if you’re building a Rebel Fleet).

The TIE Pilot is a great figure as well. Unfortunately, there haven’t been any Empire vehicle releases to place the “Empire” figures into.

I hope that Hasbro will eventually release a TIE Fighter, or even Vader’s TIE Fighter to counterbalance the many X-Wing Fighters (there have been 3 different versions of X-wing Fighters released) and the Millenium Falcon (which is *the* best Vehicle released for the Galactic Heroes product line, and is a “must have” to own if you’re collecting any of the Episode IV-VI figures)

The Star Wars Galactic Heroes figures actually started out as figures in the PlaySkool line. The figures originally had “force” powers, and Hasbro/Playskool enabled this by embedding small magnets in Jedi / Sith figure’s hands. So if you faced a Jedi like Luke against the Hoth monster beast, the magnets repelled against each other, causing them to push away. Similarly, if you placed Luke’s hand at the back of his Speeder bike, Luke would magnetize and stick to the Speeder Bike.

The Playskool Star Wars line was eventually transformed into the current mainstream “Star Wars Galactic Heroes” line by Hasbro where it has really taken off. The magnets were removed from the figures (thereby increasing the value of the old Playskool Star Wars sets), and the product line greatly diversified with new figures.

The old Playskool line was sold in themed Adventure packs, and when the Hasbro line debuted, it shifted towards selling the figures in 2-packs (like in this TIE Pilot & Wedge 2-pack) and most recently in 10-pack sets (i.e. The Star Wars Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes….which are a great value!!).

I love the Star Wars Galactic Heroes figures. Primarily because the gun and light saber accessories are physically attached to the figures, and it prevents the figures and accessories from accidentally being separated and lost from each other. Their compact size make them easy to pack and carry for my daughter, and their wide feet make them great for standing and displaying. (I have many of these figures and ALL of them can stand without any sort of peripheral peg stand like most other action figure lines!!!)
