STAR WARS 3.75″ BASIC FIG MCQUARRIE SERIES BOBA FETT Set in 3 scale, the McQuarrie Boba Fett owes to a concept influenced by early Darth Vader designs. Described as having Mandalorian super commando armor, this version of the Boba Fett features a blaster pistol and a gauntlet-mounted flamethrower. His helmet is slightly more detailed but less sinister than the definitive Boba Fett, the armor looking more similar to that of a Stormtrooper. An exacting, code-driven predator, Fett played heavily on the fringe of the SW storyline. Though Fett was just a sprat during the Clone Wars, he would eventually inherit both his Mandalorian armor and the Slave-1 from Jango Fett. Among the supplemental storylines, there were wide-ranging scenarios involving Fett after his reemergence from the digestive soup of the Sarlacc. Over the course of intertwining stories, Fett outmaneuvered IG-88 and trumped and humiliated Bossk a number of times.

Boba Fett as envisioned by McQuarrie. It’s a fine look into the history of Star Wars and creates a lot of “what-if’s” along the way. He comes with an alternate helmet,a hidden gun in his belly – must be a real thin guy, a pistol with stock that fits into an over-sized holster on his right side, a flamethrower with detacheable flame, and of course, the 30th Anniversary Star Wars coin.
It’s a fine look into the past, save for the fact that he’s bone white – well he is a concept figure – and the flame-thrower extension is heavy enough that it bends out of shape if you leave it attached with the arm raised.

This product: funky alternatives! Early version of Boba Fett before filming for Star Wars even begin as designed by Ralph Mcquarrie.
Fett was originally supposed to appear in the first Star Wars film, and early film tests exist from pre-filming of a totally white Boba Fett (the same armor was later painted the trademark blue with battle damages and markings).
Extra Trivia: In fact, very early in Lucas’s story, Darth Vader and Boba Fett were the same character!
In General: Back in the early 80′s my brother bought a Ralph Mcquarrie “Star Wars” “Portfolio” with “Letterbox” style pre-production paintings for the “first” “Star Wars” film. I remember how my imagination ran wild with the “alternate” versions of all the main characters. I especially dug the Luke vs. Darth Vader painting where Vader had this very wolf-like mask where the top helmet was much more Samurai looking and the mouth grill came out like the snout of a wolf (an Luke looked cool with the oxygen mask too).
The Stormtroopers looked cooler too, and they had light sabers! and shields!
And the painting of the two droids was cool because R2 looked much more expressive and functional, and 3PO looked just like the robot from “Metropolis”.
Anyway, someone, somewhere, had the brilliant idea to actually make action figures based on these early pre-production paintings by McQuarrie!
I’ve managed to purchase the first 8 of the 12 thus far (Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Luke, C-3PO and R2-D2, Chewbacca, & Ben Kenobi and Yoda) and look forward to the final 4 (Leia Starkiller, Han [George Lucas] Solo, Snowtrooper, and the one I’ve been wanting since around 1980: McQuarrie Darth Vader!).
Bottom line, amazing sculpts, genius idea, a must have for die-hard SW fans!
