Customer Review: Disappointing
I wanted to like this thing. In some ways I do, but it is a major disappointment.

There was a battery recall, so I sent in the old battery and got a new gray one, charged it up, and took the plane out. Its range is significantly less than 300 feet, which means that you may want to be doing some quick turning. Problem with quick turning is that sometimes results in nose-ins, which the plane can withstand fine but it turns itself off _every time_. This is because the on/off switch is weighted such that nosing in the plane kills the power. Safety feature? Can’t see how, all it means is I have to walk 100-200 feet to manually turn it on again.

Beyond that, the plane suffers badly from either voltage lag (meaning that under stress, battery’s voltage drops so far that the internal speed control kills the motors until the bat can recover voltage a split second later) or interference; after a few min of flying today I could not get the thing to continue flying without constant sputtering and when I was miles away on the way home testing it in the car I noticed the same thing, but then a mile down the road later I was able to keep it running for 60 seconds. I am not in a crowded area.

Others seem to have better luck. Maybe the newer version of the XPV has a battery with more capacity and a TRUE range of 300+ and has solved the on/off switch.
Customer Review: Fast, fun, takes practice, but worth it.
This little plain caught my attnetion as soon as I saw it. It just looks fast. I hadn’t thought about buying a plane till I saw this. Finally after practicing with the Wowee Dragon fly (I purchased to learn flying, and because it was cheaper), I purchased this unit for a deal on clearance (I’m glad I waited). This is a really neat toy. Fast on the ground, but tough to get in the air at first. I have flow this a few times, and I can get it airborn, but it will take time to practice how to turn appropriately. I am amazed at the durability of this also. I have unitentionally given this a beating with minimal battle scars. This is an rc car tweakers dream on getting to practice on how to fly an RC plane. Worth a look at, and with the price coming down, a real steal.

FYI: There are a lot of complaints about the Battery Pack not being included. That is true, you do have to purchase it separately, and it is required to run the plane unit. The remote uses 6 AAA. Bad marketing, but never misleading. It states it right on the outside of the box “SOLD SEPARATELY/NOT INCLUDED”
