If you organize by revenue, Mattel Inc. is the largest toy company in the entire world. It was founded in 1945 by Matt Matson and Elliot Handler, who combined their two first names in order to create the name of the company. Mattel’s longest running and most iconic toy product is the Barbie doll. Barbie was created 1959 by Ruth Handler, the wife of founder Elliot Handler.
