LEGO Technic Telehandler

51%2BzMYzqQGL LEGO Technic Telehandler LEGO Technic Telehandler Lift nearly anything with this heavy-duty Telescopic Handler! It’s loaded with realistic functions that you build right in, including a hydraulic actuator that raises and lowers the extending boom, front-end stabilizers, and working four-wheel steering. You can even add the Power Functions Motor Set (sold separately) to motorize the telescoping boom. Turn the knob on back to raise and lower the boom, then flip the switch the extend it. Tilt the front forklift to pick up the cargo pallet. Boom extends over 21″. Telescopic Handler measures 15″L x 15″H. Includes instructions for rebuilding into a rugged Log Loader. 1,182 pieces.
Customer Review: Lego Telescopic Handler
Excellent Lego offerings for 2008, and the 8295 Telescopic Handler does not disappoint. Just like the real machine, the boom raises uses the new unique Linear Actuators that seemed to have replaced the older pneumatic cylinders and air pumps. This is actually a good thing, without an air tank, it would take constant pumping to create enough air pressure to allow the cylinders to function, the actuators are ‘screw’ operated, you just turn a gear wheel on the back of the machine to actuate the cylinder to raise the boom, then using a slick clutch type setup on the side of the Telehandler you flip a switch to change the gearing to extending the boom. It would have been nice if the tilting of the forks on the end of the boom would have been operated on the machine, making it look more authentic, rather than the cheesy setup of having to turn a lever on the fork assembly itself, maybe 1 extra Linear Actuator on the end of the boom would have accomplished the task, but then the price tag might have hit $100 as well…either way it is a lot of fun, and actually fairly complex to assemble the Telehandler, even more so than the Flagship 2008 model, #8297 Off-Roader. It is advisable that you motorize the Telehandler with either #8293 Power Functions kit, or if you have an extra battery box, clutch gear and the small Power Functions motor, you can simply motorize the boom, which is actually quite cool to watch. You can motorize the #8294 Excavator as well with the same 3 parts, and it adds a lot of replay value to the sets.

LEGO Technic Excavator

51jdEuXX7NL LEGO Technic Excavator LEGO Technic Excavator The LEGO Technic Excavator is loaded with realistic details and working functions, including hydraulic actuators that raise and lower the articulated arm, an extending and contracting bucket scoop, 360-degree rotating cab section, and rolling caterpillar tracks. Also includes instructions for rebuilding into a Tracked Dumper. Add motorized power with Power Functions Motor Set (sold sepearately). 720 pieces.
Customer Review: Good Design with Valuable Pieces
Lego released this set mid-2008. The design is very good, and for the money (MSRP is sixty dollars) you get quite a few valuable parts that are useful for building your own designs. The set is the first to have the new linear actuators (the two pistons that move the excavator arm). It also includes a good number of the relatively new treads that were introduced in 2007 with the bulldozer (8275) and snowmobile (8272). The turntable, track suspension parts, transmission ring and catch (somewhat rare), and large number of studless beams are also handy. As for the design, the excavator has great playability, though I do recommend the Power Functions motor set (8293) because the linear actuators require large amounts of winding.
Customer Review: Can’t Go Wrong w/the Lego Technic Excavator 8294!
This is a review of the “A” model Excavator and not the “B” model Tracked Dumper(we haven’t done the “B” model yet because were having to much fun with the Excavator “A” model):
Well Engineered toy, Directions were spot on, no errors I could find, was a pleasure to assemble with my 4 year old son. He’s been playing with it for weeks! He brings it with him wherever he goes, to say he likes it is an understatement. This set is a must have if your son/daughter likes to experiment and build like mine does.
It is a very durable toy, it fell off the dining room table onto a hardwood floor and the pieces breakaway but don’t shatter, and you just reassemble it, no harm done.
The only drawback is that it doesn’t come with the Power Functions kit(#8293, an extra $30) and it is a must have. The kit transforms the excavator into a real scale functioning excavator (I own real heavy equipment myself), which can actually dig dry sand, sifted loam. We attached a small jewelry chain to it and it can lift things like Transfomers Bumblebee and some surprisingly heavy objects just like a real excavator does! So dont hesitate to get one of these, it is worth the money.

LEGO Technic Power Function Accessory box

514EmrfngiL LEGO Technic Power Function Accessory box LEGO Technic Power Function Accessory box Add even more power to your LEGO Technic creations! This Power Functions motor set includes a motor, battery box, light cable, pole switch and additional pieces to add new functions and features to your motorized models. Requires six “AA” batteries, not included. 10 pieces.
Customer Review: Ditto: add this to your Lego 8294
I prefer not to motorize my Lego sets, but in this case I think the Power Functions accessory set is a necessity. The new linear actuators that come with the excavator require a lot of tiresome winding. The PF motor and switch make the excavator a much more capable and fun toy. It is too bad that at MSRP this accessory set is half the cost of the excavator, but it is still worth it.
Customer Review: A must have for the 8294 excavator
The Power Functions kit #8293 is a must have for the 8294 Excavator. The kit transforms the excavator into a real scale functioning excavator (I own real heavy equipment myself), which can actually dig dry sand, sifted loam, and we attached a small jewelry chain to it and it can lift things like Transfomers Bumblebee and some surprisingly heavy objects just like a real excavator does! So dont hesitate to get one of these. The motor is tiny, but is surprisingly powerful and also this kit has a nice quality switch that replicates a real hydraulic lever and also comes with accessory LED lights which snap right on easily and look sano. The Design of the battery box and the excavator is well done, it mounts underneath the tracked undercarriage and it lowers the center of gravity of the excavator, which increases its stability. Expensive, but worth the dough.
