I am quite well-pleased with this counting jar. (I had it in mind to give to my granddaughter, but she’s too young yet.) But I’m thoroughly enjoying it! Besides the accurate sensing of the coin and accurate arithmetic, it keeps the coins all in one place and dust-free–no more scattered, fuzzy, cat-hair encusted gold doubloons for me! And it holds up to $[...]. I came to understand that the lid knows which denomination you’re putting in the slot because of the sliding armature (or whatever the terms is); i.e., the coin can only push the arm the length of its diameter. That’s about as technical as I can get. Enjoy!

My kid loves dropping his coins into the bank. Mommy loves that it adds the coins so she knows when its worthwhile to haul to the bank. Although, I swear sometimes depending on how you drop in the coin, it records the wrong amount. Works 99% of the time with correct coin recognition – its just when the 3 year old gets a little rammy with dropping the coins – definitely say more user error than machine error.

Customer Review: The count was wrong a few times.
We bought this for my 6 yr old son, who loves collecting pennies and watching his money grow [a young investor maybe?]. Anyhow, the first couple of times we filled it up and took it to coin star, the count was off by about 5 bucks. I chalked it up to my son possibly opening it up, or maybe some of the coins didn’t register. Then a few times later, I had a few quarters in there, and I could see how much was in the jar, and the count on the top didn’t match that.
