I bought the sea animal and the Horses “floor puzzles” to give as gifts and they were instant successes. These days, kids no longer get this kind of toys, so they are always curious about them. Customer Review: Some improvement on last model, but a little more needed
This newer version is larger but easier to use. The red-light, green-light feature & the talking feature replace the incorrect “buzzer” sound that I found particularly discouraging. Also the batteries are easier to replace & are standard format. My 4-year old still seems to miss the dots & get negative responses even when she is correct, so monitoring is still necessary for the younger ones with weaker fine motor skills.

Customer Review: Excellent quality
This floor puzzle is a great way to learn about the states. My daughter is 4, and after doing it a couple times with help, she can now do it herself. I’m not sure I’d recommend this for a child younger than 3 as it’s challenging with 50 pieces, but everything about it is top-notch. The “suitcase” it comes in for storage is very sturdy and wonderful quality. This would make a fabulous gift.

Customer Review: Great puzzle for 2-3 year olds, not older
I got this puzzle for my son when he was almost 2. He LOVED it and he’s about to turn 3 now and still LOVES it, but it’s just WAY too easy for him. It’s not a challenge anymore as far as a puzzle goes, but he likes to play with the pieces and drive or float them around. The age range says up to 5 years old but I think that’s WAY too old. 3 years MAX, I’d say. Very sturdy and high quality, too.

We have many melissa and doug puzzles, and I love them. I had ordered the vehicles and the farm animal puzzle for a friends child. Not impressed w/ the quality. there was only paint on the top of the puzzle pieces instead of the entire piece and it seemed really cheap. not happy!!!I guess not all melissa and doug puzzles are created the same -beware of the cheaper version. Customer Review: Where are the dinosaur names?
My 3 year old loves puzzles and dinosaurs, and he enjoys this puzzle. The colors are good, the pictures realistic, and it is durable (as I expect from Melissa and Doug products). My complaint is that there is no information about which dinosaurs are pictured. I am no expert, and my son keeps asking what their names are. We’ve been able to figure some out by looking through books, but it is work I don’t think I should have to do. If it had this information (or if you don’t care about this info), I would give it 5 stars.
