A Closer Look At Kids Toy Brands – Playmobil
Playmobil began life some thirty five years ago in Germany when toy maker Hans Beck decided to make a simple but expandable range of figures and playsets. A reaction to the 1973 oil crisis, Beck switched production form toys that required a large percentage of oil to those that could be produced with very little of this precious resource.
Indeed it seems to be the philosophy of Playmobil that a little can go a long way, as demonstrated by the core of the Playmobil line, the figures. One thing that is immediately noticeable about the Playmobil figures is they have no nose. The designed and style of the Playmobil figure is simplified. They have two dots for eyes and a mouth, with very little variation between different figures’ expressions.
The absence of a nose can be traced back to Hans Beck’s intentions. He wanted to emulate a child’s own creations. When kids draw faced they often simplify the facial features, but can achieve a great degree of emotion even so. Hans Beck obviously saw the elegance of this and extended into his whole design philosophy.
Playmobil toys are simple but eminently expressive. Kids can let their imaginations soar with the toys, regardless how simple the designs may be. Without the baggage of a preconceived story line kids can use Playmobil toys to create just about any scenario their imaginations can conceive.
Playmobil are often considered a major competitor to Lego and that is true in some ways but not others. Both Lego and Playmobil are based around figures that interact with vehicles and playsets. That is where the similarity ends.
Lego is foremost a construction toy and while it does take some assembly to put Playmobil sets together (as any parent on Christmas morning can tell you!) after that there is very little reconstruction involved. Lego also have a number of licensed sets, something which Playmobil is staunchly against for they believe kids should be unencumbered with other people’s worlds and stories and free to make up their own.
There is certainly room for both Lego and Playmobil in any child’s life as both are high quality toys that can complement each other wonderfully.
If you are looking for a toy that will last for years both in physical durability and the ability to engage your child through different stage s of life than Playmobil should be on your shortlist.

Pleasing Toys For Christmas
Every year, Toys ‘R Us sends the Christmas catalog out to entice customers to enter their stores. Children lunge for this special catalog, circling all of their desired toys for Christmas that they hope they find under the tree. Parents get their hands on the catalogs once their children have leafed through it circling all of their desired toys for Christmas and might groan in glancing through it. As the years move on, the prices of toys for Christmas continue to rise. Not uncontrollably, but they have risen with the inflation. Most of the new toys for Christmas that come out each year seem to be more advanced. Computer games and technology seem to be a bit too much for some parents to grasp. Parents find themselves thinking back to the days when toys for Christmas were much simpler.
Black Friday has become one of the most popular buying days of the year. It is on that particular day that all the newest toys for Christmas make their debut and shelves in toy stores empty rather quickly. Kids want to peek in shopping bags when their parents return home, hoping to see what toys for Christmas they can expect to unwrap on Christmas morning. Some parents won’t even walk in their front doors after shopping without having the longed for toys for Christmas wrapped up.
Though new toys for Christmas come out every year, some of the older toys seem to maintain their popularity. Many adults will
argue that it simply means that the old style of toys for Christmas are the best but it may simply be due to popularity and reputation. Board games are commonly among the same toys for Christmas that survive as the years move on. Granted, they are not selling in as large of quantities and may have gotten some cosmetic lifts but they have the same concepts and ideas.
As a child, I would take the catalog of toys for Christmas and cut out the pictures that I wanted. I’d glue them to pieces of paper and give my “wish list” to my parents. By that time, I had given up on believing in Santa, but not on the desire to have new toys for Christmas. That tradition has become popular in my household now that I have children of my own. My son likes to cut pictures of his desired toys for Christmas and leave them in different places. He’ll put one or two inside of a book that I’m reading or on my husband’s desk. He’ll find any way that he can to guarantee that we won’t forget about getting him Christmas presents. As if we could forget.

Wooden Pink Three Wishes Castle
Wooden Pink Three Wishes Castle Castle 3 Wishes
Customer Review: Hacksaw required.
This castle is pretty flimsy overall. Even once assembled, the buildings aren’t attached by more than a wood slot, the fences are slotted on one side and held in place by a teeny magnet on the other. In theory, this would be good if you were going to transport it — but you’re not. The base is a 2×2 solid piece of wood. It ain’t going anywhere. My 5 year old daughter keeps complaining that my 2 year old son is disassembling it — I’ve had to put it back together 3 times since Christmas.

Hot Wheels RC Monster Jam-Grave Digger – J6973
Hot Wheels RC Monster Jam-Grave Digger – J6973 It’s radio control at its baddest. This Monster Jam truck is big, bad and ready to bash! Kids can dig in the dirt or fly high with one of the most famous Monster Jam names around. Crushing speed and humongous tires make this R/C Monster Jam Truck monstrously fun. Requires 3 “AA” batteries for the vehicle and 2 “AA” batteries for the remote, not included. Measures 7″.
Customer Review: Cheap
This stopped working a little over a month after it was bought. It is a cheap piece of garbage from China. Don’t waste your money on this, but most of all, don’t let your kid be disappointed like mine is. Also want to mention that I am probably out the money on it, as there is no way to return it. Thanks Amazon for another shoddy product.
Customer Review: I am not pleased..
This was the one gift that my son was the most excited about opening on Christmas morning. I was very upset to find that the steering gage did not work. It would go forward and back, but it would not turn right or left. I would like to have it replaced with one that works properly.
