We bought this set after seeing my son was interested in him after a visit to a family home.

It 'was only 3 at the moment and this set contains many small pieces, so we stopped its use to be monitored to avoid playing with myself without worrying about choking. (Of course, a sacrifice for me, as I'm a closet geek tie.)

The set comes with a number of very different shapes, sizes and colors and more complete sample sets to count cards. The case comes in is beautifuland strong with a top locking.

I bought this item first and foremost because the item description said it contained 16″ by 16″ base plates. It does not. (I should have figured out that they wouldn’t have fit into the box it says it ships in.)

Not as firm as they should be, easily bend. Kind of a disappointment for a Lego brand product!!But grandchildren love them, so we will see if they break easily!!!
Customer Review: Broken corners, but fun to play with
We received this as a gift for my 5 year old son. The first one arrived with a broken corner on the largest plate. The purchaser requested another one and instructed them to use more padding or a larger box. A second set was shipped in exactly the same way as the first, again with a broken corner on the largest piece. We are now waiting for the third shipment. Hopefully all pieces will be intact this time.

Customer Review: Boys 6 and 9 love it
The boys spent a whole day and built it all. They worked hard on it and challenged themselves to get it built in a day. As it is built in discrete parts each section was rewarding. They now enjoy playing with it.
Customer Review: Not Your 1980s LEGO Castle
LEGO castles have been produced roughly every other year since the early 1980s and most of them have a trait that this one lacks: a base plate. That being said, I think that LEGO took the Castle series in a new direction with this move. Until this set, LEGO always released their castles on solid base plates with hills and valleys, making the castles seem formidable, while being constructed with less pieces and remaining static in nature. The new 2008 castle leaves the entire base on solid ground with detachable corners and walls and a removable tower, making the entire set far more variable, expanding play and display tremendously.
