How to Say No When Your Kid Wants a Toy

5801281407 065988b7bb How to Say No When Your Kid Wants a Toy

For most parents, saying no to their children is hard. Parents may feel that they are being mean, unfair, or that they are denying their children life’s pleasures by not letting them have their every heart’s desire. Often times, parents take the saying, “Ask and you shall receive,” a bit too literally.

With brighter, shinier, faster toys on the market these days, it seems that children hardly have a chance to play with their toys before they want the newer, improved version of the thing you just bought last week. When I was young, I was given my siblings’ hand-me-down Barbie dolls and GI Joe action figures to play with. When those things got old, I was scuffled outside to play on the backyard swing set, slide, or tire swing.

STAR WARS 3.75″ BASIC FIG MCQUARRIE SERIES BOBA FETT

41eFPgJ4gvL STAR WARS 3.75 BASIC FIG MCQUARRIE SERIES BOBA FETT STAR WARS 3.75″ BASIC FIG MCQUARRIE SERIES BOBA FETT Set in 3 scale, the McQuarrie Boba Fett owes to a concept influenced by early Darth Vader designs. Described as having Mandalorian super commando armor, this version of the Boba Fett features a blaster pistol and a gauntlet-mounted flamethrower. His helmet is slightly more detailed but less sinister than the definitive Boba Fett, the armor looking more similar to that of a Stormtrooper. An exacting, code-driven predator, Fett played heavily on the fringe of the SW storyline. Though Fett was just a sprat during the Clone Wars, he would eventually inherit both his Mandalorian armor and the Slave-1 from Jango Fett. Among the supplemental storylines, there were wide-ranging scenarios involving Fett after his reemergence from the digestive soup of the Sarlacc. Over the course of intertwining stories, Fett outmaneuvered IG-88 and trumped and humiliated Bossk a number of times.
Customer Review: Pale Fett
Boba Fett as envisioned by McQuarrie. It’s a fine look into the history of Star Wars and creates a lot of “what-if’s” along the way. He comes with an alternate helmet,a hidden gun in his belly – must be a real thin guy, a pistol with stock that fits into an over-sized holster on his right side, a flamethrower with detacheable flame, and of course, the 30th Anniversary Star Wars coin.

Howl’s Moving Castle

51ROjdVz1uL. SL160 Howls Moving Castle Howl’s Moving Castle Acclaimed Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki adapts British writer Diana Wynne Jones’s popular fantasy tale for this animated feature adding his own unique and celebrated dreamlike spin. A young hat-maker named Sophie (voiced by Emily Mortimer) is turned into an old woman by the dreaded Witch of the Waste (Lauren Bacall) when she attracts the notice of Howl (Christian Bale) a young wizard whom the witch desires for herself. As the old woman (voiced by Jean Simmons) Sophie finds refuge as a cleaning lady in Howl’s magical castle an impressively realized mishmash of anthropomorphic shafts and gears where she meets among other wonders a cantankerous fire demon named Calcifer (Billy Crystal). Howl’s courage inspires her to seek a cure for her curse and vice versa and the two work together to prevent a major war as the castle roams the countryside on its mechanical legs. There’s lots of magic afoot as well including travel through barriers of space and time and shape-shifting requiring full viewer attention to keep track of who where and when but this how dreams really are and the film engages on that same subconscious level. As with Miyazaki’s previous work (SPIRITED AWAY KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE) the emphasis here is on creating a beautiful alternate reality where anything can happen and every frame is a breathtaking work of art. See it on the big screen if the chance presents itself; the elaborate intricacies and patiently realized alternate realities of Miyazaki’s work makes him a true treasure.System Requirements:Running Time 119 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE Rating: PG UPC: 786936296662 Manufacturer No: 04139900

Customer Review: Alternate Realities can be fun, or, How Star Wars “might have been”
Back in the early 80′s my brother bought a Ralph Mcquarrie “Star Wars” “Portfolio” with “Letterbox” style pre-production paintings for the “first” “Star Wars” film. I remember how my imagination ran wild with the “alternate” versions of all the main characters. I espescially dug the Luke vs. Darth Vader painting where Vader had this very wolf-like mask where the top helmet was much more Samuri looking and the mouth grill came out like the snout of a wolf (an Luke looked cool with the oxygen mask too).
The Stormtroopers looked cooler too, and they had lightsabers! and shields!
And the painting of the two droids was cool because R2 looked much more expressive and functional, and 3PO looked just like the robot from “Metropolis”.
