Open Question: Is it humane to make my dog wear a cage muzzle at home? Doggy pica?
My 1 year old eats EVERYTHING. He eats coins, towels, paper, the floor, socks, the walls, clothes, buttons, sponges. Those are all things he has thrown up recently. We’ve had two professional trainers come in over the past 7 months and nothing has worked. He’s had three abdominal x-rays so far. No matter how well we clean the house he always finds something and I’m always pulling something out of his mouth or even throat. We’re really afraid he’s gonna kill himself. Is it cruel to make him wear a basket muzzle in the house so he doesn’t eat himself to death? We really have no idea what to do here. He has tons of toys that he doesn’t eat, just chews and plays with. It there a such thing as doggy pica..? I’m sure you all know what a basket muzzle looks like but if you don’t, here it is: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://forum.oes.org/images/zw129.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.oes.org/page2/1355~using_a_muzzle.html&usg=__cCvBZHaYmAbOTnb5iwPeMOYEhyU=&h=200&w=200&sz=9&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=jGyRJRHSdh97hM:&tbnh=134&tbnw=134&ei=6RVwTZX-MIOdlgfizLlC&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbasket%2Bmuzzle%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1003%26bih%3D446%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=203&oei=1xVwTej8MZS6tge8wvWMDw&page=1&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0&tx=60&ty=63 Please don’t chew me up, I really care about him and am at my wits end. I’d rather him be in a muzzle then dead. @Original & G

Selecta Pedella the Walking Duck Wooden Push Toy
Selecta Pedella the Walking Duck Wooden Push Toy One of the cutest push-toys we’ve ever encountered, this marching mallard has leather duck feet that go flippety-flop as she waddles along. Wooden beads on her blue wooden cap go clickety-clack; a jingle bell at her neck adds a little music to top off the rhythm. For all the accoutrements, you’d think she’d be a thunderous bird, but she’s actually rather whimsically sedate. Pedella is impeccably fashioned of solid woods; bell, beads, and leather feet are firmly attached. Her red wooden wheels are set off just enough to give her a real waddle. Her handle is almost 21 inches tall: perfect for that little one who’s just learned to walk. Although the felt ruffle at her neck may eventually take wing, she’s a superbly crafted toy that will last through many a rainy day. –Julie Ubben
Customer Review: THe Best Duck Ever
My daughter loves this toy. She received it as a gift on her first birthday, 7 months ago. The leather flapping shoes have been worn out! They are curved from all the walking. She plays with it every day. Its my favorite, as well. I couldn’t be happier. Every child is different, and yours might not be interested in push toys. If you want to try one, this one is very durable and has suffered much abuse, without a single spot of paint chipped at all. I highly recommend this item; i haven’t tried their other items but will certainly do so.
Customer Review: Good fun toy for a walker
My son got this just before he started walking and LOVED it. He obviously couldn’t maneuver it right off so we would push it and ‘chase’ him around. Now, many months later, he’ll push it around but this usually ends in him bringing us the toy, handing it over, then running off – all while looking over his shoulder for the chase. Great quality construction. We’ve not had any issues with the toy (unlike another wooden push toy that broke within weeks).

Kids Preferred Amazing Baby Sound Balls The Kids Preferred Amazing Baby Sound Balls are soft, multi-textured plush and fabric balls for young children to touch, listen to, play with, and delight in. Each ball makes a different sound–a chime, a jingle, or a crinkle. Each ball also has its own distinct patterning: two with bright colors, and one with black and white contrasts appealing to a baby’s eyes. This fun sensory activity toy is infant safe; the set of three balls comes in a handy 12-inch carrying tube.
What’s in the Box
Set of 3 baby sound balls and a carrying tube.
Customer Review: Fun Balls
I bought these when my little one was learning to crawl. We had so much fun rolling around on the floor together with them. He was (and still is 9 months later) fond of the one with the crinkly sound. Nice and bright, soft – easy on the furniture and baby, interesting, easy to clean.
Customer Review: the emperors new balls?
strange – my baby acts like they aren’t even there – do they really exist? bought for xmas because of reviews in “oppenheimer toy portfolio” – our baby was 7 months at xmas, and he loves balls, these just don’t do it for him – I have no clue as to why not.
