Customer Review: My Review of LEGO’s DUPLO Big Pirate Ship
My son who just adores Pirates in general immediately adopted this as his favorite toy. So, shame on Lego for discontinuing it. It is simply awesome. The toy itself is enourmous, and it floats, well. It actually lets a little water into a chamber at the bottom of the hull which creates stability so it doesn’t tip over when floating.
Really there isn’t too much to say. If you can get this discontinued product, it has got to be hands down the best Pirate ship toy for a child 2-5 years old. Quality is top notch, my 2 year old can put the figures on the pegs easily its great.
Oh, when your kids get too old for it, you can put normal smaller Legos all over the hull to make the small lego men fit on it, for continued play and enjoyment as a LEGO ship.
Customer Review: favorite birthday present
My son got this for his 4th birthday. This was definitely his favorite present! First, the ship is huge – I’m guessing around 2 feet long. There are lots of cool pieces including a working canon (fires 2 missles), a treasure chest filled with gold, a jail to contain the bad guys, multiple pirates with removable swords (you can always hide the play weapons if you don’t want your child playing with them), and even a monkey…because, what’s a pirate ship without a monkey? The ship was easy to put together and since it’s Duplo, you don’t have the millions of tiny pieces to lose.
As with most lego sets, the pieces come apart to make other variations – like a smaller pirate raft for example.
My son has hours of fun and uses this with his Lego Knights to stage battles and search for buried treasure.
This set is not cheap, but is durable, and loads of fun. Well worth the price!
