Customer Review: great for tweens!
First of all, let me just say that my mom bought this at a consignment sale for only $[...]. Most of the pieces were still in the plastic bags as if it had never even been opened. I wanted to see what the selling price would be for a new one so I checked in with Amazon. These things are expensive, huh?
Friday afternoon, after Thanksgiving, my 10 year old spent the night with his grandparents and they got it out for him to be busy. He loved it, worked late into the night, and got up early and worked on it most of the day Saturday. His eight year old cousin was going to spend the night as well, but didn’t because he could not get into the project. If your child has an interest in building and can focus their attention onto one thing, this is a great investment. I didn’t even know that my son liked knex- besides what they used in his science class.
Secondly, I get tired of my kids’ endless addiction to video games. This is a great and probably more “constructive” way for them to use their time.
Thirdly, they do run cheaper than legos and you can get all kinds of kits, gears, pulleys, motors. I decided that he should have some of his own at home, so he’s getting them at Christmas. Wonder if I can find some as cheap as what my mother found? Ha.
